"Geoff the Ref"
E-Vick-tion Notice
By Geoff Walter / SNY.tv
The Feds must have had something so concrete on ex-Falcons player Michael Vick for him to crumble faster than the Giants' defensive line and cop a plea deal. Not that it will do him any good mind you -- he is for all intents and purposes, finished in the NFL. And it's a shame. Not a shame that he was caught, or that he will admit in court to the federal crime of illegal dog fighting, but that of a promising career gone to waste.
Even if the NFL doesn't issue a lifetime ban to Vick, even if it's one or two or three seasons, he's done for good. To give you an idea, pitcher John Rocker's career was ended and all he did was shoot his mouth off one time too many, not conduct illegal dogfighting and a gambling ring in a house he owned! Rocker's career in the Majors ended so fast it made your head spin, and he had to live out the rest of his baseball days in the Independent League. Mike Tyson is another name that comes to mind. So what person in their right minds would ever hire Vick once he is released from jail?
In all, Vick stands to lose about $200 million from the remaining money on his soon-to-be canceled 10-year $130 million contract, lost endorsements, and maybe more if the Falcons try to recover part of his $22 million signing bonus. Since a return to football is out of the question, I do have one suggestion for you Vick, try to land a gig as a consultant on the next remake of "The Longest Yard." Maybe they'll even give you a cameo.
