The Learner and the Master
The first thing that came to my mind when I heard that A.J. Burnett was going to pitch against Roy Halladay - his own mentor on the Blue Jays - was Star Wars, namely Darth Vader’s line in Episode IV when he faces Obi-Wan Kenobi on the Death Star.
Come on, admit it - you were probably thinking the same thing with all the hype of the prodigal son returning home to the team he just left and the dynamic about the former student coming back to face the teacher.
I was not about to draw A.J. in Vader’s armor, so I opted for the simple Jedi robes but with the hood up, taking the “dark” approach. Halladay’s I left down being that he was playing the Kenobi role of the teacher.
