The Penguins did it!  Seven games and just an incredible end for Pittsburgh, winning 2-1.  A rivalry is definitely going very strong here.

 

I heard from one of the many commentators that the loss was just another big heartache for Detroit for all that’s going on in the auto industry, but if I’ve learned anything from the Carolina Hurricanes when they won, it’s that a team who goes to the  Stanley Cup Finals can be viable for a number of years.

 

An early idea was to have the penguins drive a zamboni over the ice and the octopus as well, but I settled on this because of a penguin’s fondness for tobogganing - sliding around on their tummies - and seeing the top of the Cup with it’s smooth curved surface, this is what I came up with.  I can almost see them sliding back and forth and up and down in the air in an animation... hmmm - maybe one of the frst things I should try if I ever learn Flash? ^_^
