This is the cartoon I would have submitted had the Giants lost the Superbowl to the Patriots. In the losing cartoon I wanted to convey that even though they were beaten, the Giants played valiantly. I remember the Revolutionary War painting “The Spirit of ‘76” and set out to replicate that, albeit with a bunch of battered and bruised Giants.
The backgrounds here were great to do as they were on a separate layer entirely and I called up a very large brush tool and painted in a sweet Arizona sunrise and clods, respectively.
