I thought this an appropriate title since the U.S. Open was rained out its first day back at Bethpage Black. We’ve just had so much rain here on the Island and New York in general I’m officially declaring it the start of Long Island’s new rainy season. It just seems as though every other day there’s a downpour.
I however got soaked up at Yankee Stadium this morning because I was interviewing LHP John Lannan from the Nationals, and witnessed some of the six-and-a-half hour rain delay, but more on that as I’ll post the interview sometime soon.
As for the cartoon - best likeness I’ve done of a sporting figure thus far! Doesn’t that look exactly like Tiger Woods? As for Phil Mickelson, I think I could have made him a little rounder, but at least the chin is there, ha ha. I think his hair looks great with that wet look what with all the rain, and I threw in the Open logo on the boat for a nice touch. A final special effect I dreamt up was the splash of the wave breaking on the back end of the tee - makes it really look like a stormy sea there.
