SNY Thanksgiving Day Parade

This one I had been working on for quite some time, trying to finish it for Thanksgiving.  I always get up early every year and watch the parade, and I wondered what the SNY version of it would look like.  I wanted it to be as big and grand as the parade itself, so I knew I would have to start on it long before it was due.

Of course, Mr. Met is the balloon centerpiece.   Notice the turkey (which I am really happy with) being hunted by the pilgrim and the SNY TV head mascot dressed as Santa, and riding in a baseball glove.  I always wondered what happened to that guy, and why the advertising campaign featuring the character stopped.

Once again, my ambition outstripped my resources as I envisioned an entire marching band instead of three, as well as a cityscape going back as far as the eye could see.  I had also wanted each of the workers carrying the “Happy Thanksgiving” banner to represent one of the New York sports teams, but decided they looked better dressed alike.
