Ok, so let me see if I understand this situation - Carlos Beltran has arthroscopic surgery on his ailing right knee in order to be ready for the season, he’s going in for surgery, and Mets GM Omar Minaya apparently doesn’t know about it?!?!? Yet Beltran claims he was given the green light from Omar himself? Somebody’s obviously needs to get their story straight. Either Beltran acted without permission, he was truly given the go ahead and the Mets aren’t telling the press what’s really going on, or else Minaya truly doesn’t have control over his clubhouse or personnel.
In any case, Beltran won’t be available for Opening Day, but I think Met fans should at least be thankful the outfielder is doing the right thing to get back for the majority of the season, and not having to be on the DL during any prolonged period of time.
It’s been a while since I’ve drawn Minaya and Beltran, and for those of you who have been following the cartoons, you know the time of the Mets and hospital beds is a long running one, and I’ve also updated the painting of Shea to that of Citi Field.
