With both Phil Hughes and Joba Chamberlain duking it out for the role of the No. 5 starter in the Yankees’ pitching rotation, auditioning for the role if you will, I pondered what other stage would be better to do so than that of American... er, Yankees Idol?
I won’t comment what role Joe Girardi is playing, either Simon, Randy or Paula... or is it Ellen now? I don’t really watch the show. >_> I also know that even though the Yankee manager is right handed (at least I’m pretty sure), here he holds a pencil in his left hand. To me at least, it just looks better this way; or it could be my own influence as a southpaw is once again creeping into the cartoon.
You’ve got to love the colors here, all the purples and blues and whatnot really blend together. Small confession: I originally drew Hughes’ jersey as his old No. 34 - which is currently A.J. Burnett’s number - but all is well as I attached the correct No. 65 in post-production.
