I thought since the Yankees were honoring Corey Lidle Opening Day that I might draw my own tribute. The circumstances between Lidle’s death and Thurmon Munson’s were unmistakable since they both perished in plane crashes, so the thought came to mind about who would be the first person Lidle would meet once he entered the afterlife. Since I drew the work on a sheet of legal size paper (11 x 14), I had to scan it twice and merge the two together. I did make the lines darker, but then I decided that it looked much better as a sketch with the jersey numbers colored in. Anyone else find it odd that Lidle’s number is twice that of Munson’s?
I submitted the work, but it was never put up for one reason or another, so it’s here for you to enjoy!
