Tigers in Three!

Watching the 2006 World Series between the Tigers and the Cardinals, it was mentioned that there was a story in the USA Today in which one of the writers said that St. Louis was so completely overmatched by Detroit, that the Tigers would win in 3 games instead of the minimum 4 needed to take the crown.  Needless to say, I felt it was something just crying out to be immortalized in ink.

However, this one never made it to the actual “Live” site, stuck in the SNY “Beta” address under a test the editor did as a “Cartoon of the Day.”

Several versions of the cartoon do exist, with only the date actually changed because the Tigers won Game 2 on October 22, and the Red Birds clinched on the 27.

Another side-note is that the lines on the newspaper were all drawn using Photoshop Element’s line tool - something I will probably never do again because I like the “authenticity” of my work.

Admittedly, after looking things over carefully, cardinals are red over their entire bodies, so I had to change it.  The “lost” SNY “Cartoon of the Day” still shows the first one.
