Unrequited Love

Most of us don’t get to spend Valentine’s Day with the one we want, and really that little bit of unrequited love is what makes some of the best stories, isn’t it?  The cartoon really just says it all, as Mr. Yankee out on a date, laughing it up with his *ahem* trophy wife, while Mr. Met is once again the lonely single guy, forever on the outside looking in.

There were a lot of elements in this one, from the tables and chairs to the candlesticks, the lights and the various shadows, but everything came out exactly as I had pictured it in my mind, especially the colors.  I was trying to go for a lot of the Valentine’s Day colors - reds, purples, various shades of pink, without being too frilly - every color had to compliment each other, including the windows.  And I really like how the shadows on the back of Mr. Yankee and Mr. Met’s chairs came out.

You’ve just got to love that burnt out candle on Mr. Met’s table too!  ^_^
