So the first round of the Subway Series is on and people are already calling for Mets manager Jerry Manuel’s head. People are already billing this as a make or break time for Manuel’s job and if he doesn’t take the series from the Yankees, he may not live to see another day in a Mets uniform. Coming into the series with a 20-22 record, I can see that some fans’ point, but all things (and injuries) considered, its a pretty good record for the Mets.
The title is of course a homage to the movie Don’t Throw Mama from the Train, and I definitely was trying to come up with a subway motif somehow. I had colored the various segments of the subway car solidly, but decided to use the metal gradient as it looks more like the real subway cars in New York City. The hardest part was getting those hands just right on the closing doors, trying to keep them open by force and the Met fan pushing Jerry out of the train.
