Opening Day for Mr. Met

OK, I take back what I said about “This is Michigan!” being my most difficult project (or at least time-consuming) project to date.  This Sunday-style comic strip certainly takes the title as of right now with the many people in the fourth panel and the brickwork in the background.  Not to mention the time and detail I had to go through to get the bricks just right.  I wanted to try and evoke the Jackie Robinson rotunda in Citi Field here, and instead of a photo-realistic background (I couldn’t find one that fit) I had to create a brick pattern and put that in on another layer.

Really not much else to say about it other than the subject of Mr. Met getting a surprise when he opens the doors for the first time.  I had thought the bricks would look good as a solid background - i.e. no arches - along with that rectangular Citi Field logo, but the arches just made it look that much more open.  And yes, I do know that there are no gates on the other arches, but does it really matter for the comic? ^_^
