There’s nothing better than seeing a ring ceremony.  I was lucky enough to be among the sold out crowd - and especially after all the speculation as the Yankees didn’t officially let anyone know the ceremony was in fact going to be at the home opener (some had speculated it might be the next day or next week!).  Thankfully, CC Sabathia confirmed the rings would be handed out the first day at home.

 

I knew that I wanted to get the “core four” involved somehow in this cartoon, since they each have five rings.

 

And yes, I know the 2009 rings were platinum, not gold, but I still liked the gold for the rings.  I did add light blue for the baseball diamond as it is in the actual ring

 

I happen to love comics and thought about what other heroes had “power rings.”  The imagery of the Green Lantern Corps. raising their power rings and lighting up the sky really appealed to me.

 

Of course, substituting for Hal Jordan & Co. are Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Joe Girardi.
