The Butler Didn’t Do It
Well, the Cinderella story ends as Duke beats Butler 61-59 in the NCAA Finals. The game of course was perhaps one for the ages as the Bulldogs just missed a three-pointer from half-court with 3.6 seconds left in the game.
I’m sure that Gordan Hayward must be replaying that missed field goal in his mind, as our bulldog is in the cartoon, but he really has nothing to be ashamed of. I mean, how many times has Butler reached the title game? No matter what, they’ve won something by playing in this game and have probably attracted legions of new fans to their school (as well as those seeking admission to the school).
I like to image the events of this cartoon coming about simply as a bet between the mascots, as the cartoon was really a play of the name of the school, and I couldn’t let the cartoon title escape unused either.
