One Theory Behind Plaxico’s Injury
Maybe it was an accident. Maybe. Regardless, Plaxico Burress is out for the rest of the season, having been suspended by the Giants for getting shot in his right leg. Plaxico has been in trouble a lot of course, having just been suspended back in September as well.
The subject matter here is not easy to make light of, but still you try. That’s why I tried to make the gun look as as cartoon-like as possible. Again, all those cartoons as a kid inspired me to believe that maybe Plaxico was being tormented by a rogue fly that didn’t know any better and for lack of a fly-swatter... well, you know.
The entire thing also reminds me of a scene in the Simpsons episode “My Sister, My Sitter” - where Snake is at Dr. Nick Riviera’s clinic, clutching his stomach, saying “I must’ve, like, fallen on a bullet...”
My only other idea was to draw Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning looking through a cartoon hole in Plaxico’s leg (you’d see them from the hole’s perspective like in a Warner Bros. Cartoon), and remarking on it. Plax has of course gotten rid of his dreadlocks, so those are gone too.
